Melodies for Memories

An Alberta music veteran is taking a creative approach to helping raise awareness for those diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and their families.

Jack Cooper, co-owner and founder of Cooper Productions, has created a three-song compilation to benefit Alzheimer's Disease research and support services.

Jack's wife, Josephine Marilyn Cooper, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease 10 years ago at age 56. Jack got the idea for the fundraising album after hearing a song by a Nashville songwriter called “Where Is The Good In Goodbye”.

The song made Cooper realize other loved ones and caregivers could relate to his situation, and that bringing these issues to the forefront could help raise funding and awareness. That's when he contacted the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories to begin work on the project.

The CD features three songs honouring loved ones, and the work and dedication of caregivers, sung by up-and-coming Alberta performers:
  • “The Dancing Queen” sung by Shawna Lynneplay
  • “Where Is The Good In Goodbye” sung by Kasha Derecheyplay
  • “Tomorrow” written and sung by Christi Mooreplay
